Adaptive Cultures

Catherine is an expert in cross-cultural organizational psychology. She coaches executives to understand and leverage cultural differences, and she trains global teams to function more effectively across cultures. She also provides cross-cultural adaptation (culture shock) trainings as well as re-entry (reverse shock) trainings for expatriates.


Catherine has a wealth of international experience, having lived and worked in 12 cities across 6 countries and 3 continents. Leveraging her international and cross-cultural expertise, Catherine helps leaders and organizations to be more effective in cross-border, cross-cultural, and multicultural situations. She helps her clients to not only understand and appreciate cultural differences, but also to use them to create synergy.


Her career in this field started with a team from Tilburg University that provided conflict management and mediation training seminars to the Dutch UN Peacekeeping Forces at Clingendael, the Netherlands Institute of International Relations. Since then, Catherine has consulted for multinational corporations in Europe, China, and the United States.



Catherine has helped a global technology company to develop local talent in its China operations. She provided feedback to the business unit leaders, guided them through the development of their personal development plan and coached them through the process of acquiring new skills.


When a large European telecommunications company was inpatriating some of its U.S. staff to work in the European HQ, Catherine worked with the staff and their families to prepare them for the overseas postings.


When a Fortune 500 company restructured its European customer service operations, Catherine helped to transition its European partners to the new system.
